IT’S A DEAD ISSUE
Namazi on Red Bulls position

PHILADELPHIA---After a month of speculation, and an apparent done deal, it looks like New Jersey Ironmen head coach Omid Namazi won’t be joining the New York Red Bulls as an assistant to Juan Carlos Osorio.

“It’s a dead issue,” Namazi said after the Ironmen lost to the Philadelphia KiXX 17-13 on Sunday.

Namazi would not say what actually scuttled the deal, only that “It just wasn’t the right timing.”

Sources within the league told Big Apple Soccer that Ironmen owner Jeffery Vanderbeek would not allow Namazi out of his contract midway through the club’s first season.

Already one of the best and most respected coaches in the indoor game, Namazi spent one season coaching outdoors in the Women’s United Soccer Association, leading the San Diego Spirit to a playoff spot.
