Former Red Bulls midfielder and captain Amado Guevara will play soccer this spring and summer after all -- but it won't be in the United States.

The controversial Guevara, who wore out his welcome with Chivas USA and coach Preki, will be loaned by MLS to his old Honduran club, Motagua, his agent Patrick McCabe said in an e-mail Monday afternoon.

This will be the 31-year-old Guevara's fourth tenure with Motagua, having played there in 1993-94, 1996-2000 and 2002.

On Thursday, McCabe was hopeful progress was being toward finalizing a deal with F.C. Dallas. But the deal fell through Friday.

Other teams that expressed interested included the Red Bulls and the Columbus Crew.

The Red Bulls dealt Guevara to Chivas for a second designated player slot that turned out to be Colombian striker Juan Pablo Angel, who scored a goal in his Red Bulls debut in a Lamar Hunt/U.S. Open Cup loss last week and made his debut in the 1-0 home defeat to the Colorado Rapids Sunday.

Guevara was replaced in the 56th minute of Chivas' 3-1 defeat to the Los Angeles Galaxy two weeks ago. Preki questioned Guevara's heart and ability after the match.

Chivas thought it had completed a trade that would send Guevara to Toronto F.C. for Paulo Nagamura and a draft choice, but that deal fell through after Guevara said he did not want to play for the expansion and be reunited with his former Red Bulls coach Mo Johnston.

The Honduran international captain did not record a goal or assist this season.
