April 6, 2010 SPRING BATTLE Adelphi vs. Hofstra men on April 10
Garden City, N.Y. - The Adelphi University men's soccer team will face off against Hofstra University in a spring scrimmage in John J. Burns Park in Massapequa, N.Y. at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 10.
The game will be preceded by a clinic for players 7-12-years-old.
"We are extremely excited to take place in this fundraiser and soccer match with Hofstra, which is benefiting a great cause," Adelphi coach Carlo Acquista said. "We are hoping the clinic, the match, and advertising for muscular dystrophy will bring more awareness to the disease."
Registration for the clinic will begin at 5 p.m. and will cost $25, which will include a t-shirt, admission to the game and instruction from Adelphi and Hofstra players. There will also be raffle prizes and food available.
The clinic and game will occur rain or shine.
All proceeds from the clinic and game will benefit the Long Island FSHD, a non-profit organization supporting scientific research of facioscapulohumeral muscular dystrophy.
The Panthers ended last season with a 13-2-4 record and won the Atlantic Soccer Conference regular season and tournament titles. The Pride finished at 8-7-2 and a 6-3-2 mark in the Colonial Athletic Association.
