MILESTONE WIN
Adelphi men record 500th victory

GARDEN CITY, N.Y. The Adelphi University men reached a milestone win on Sunday, recording the 500th victory in program history.

Diego Zuniga made sure of that, scoring in the 88th minute to secure a 1-0 victory over Bentley College in a Northeast-10 Conference match.

The Panthers improved to 9-3 in their conference and 10-5 overall while the alcons fell to 6-5 an 7-6-1.

"Tonight was special for the Adelphi family, past and present," Adelphi coach Carlo Acquista said. "It was the program's 500th career win! Bentley did not make it easy but I was proud of my guys to play to the last second to preserve a very tough fought win. We will enjoy it for the night and quickly turn around to prepare for a very good Southern Connecticut team."

Alejandro Penzini sent a cross-field pass where he found Zuniga. The junior transfer made a move, created room and put a shot past a diving goalkeeper Jack Blatchford for the lone goal of the match.

Adelphi keeper Ahmad Salamah recorded his sixth consecutive shutout.

The Panthers visit Southern Connecticut State University at 7 p.m. Tuesday.
