Adelphi's Acquista vies for NSCAA secretary role

Adelphi University men's soccer coach Carlo Acquista is running for secretary of the National Soccer Coaches Association of America.

He is one of four candidates running for the position, along with Daouda Kante, Missy Price and Ron Quinn.

"Being a part of something bigger than myself was something installed in me throughout my whole life - be it through my family; my neighborhood in Queens, representing St John's University as a member of the 1996 NCAA Division I Champions; as a college coach and senior assistant athletics director at St Francis and now at Adelphi University," Acquista said.

The secretary will serve on the board of directors and shall provide strategic planning, set policies, have oversight of the business and affairs of the organization. Other duties of the secretary, in conjunction with the president and CEO, include preparing and distributing the agenda and report book for all meetings of the board of directors and the associationís annual meeting.

After serving in the position of secretary for one year, he or she will be moved into a vice president role for three consecutive years, followed by a one-year term each as president and immediate past president.
