Monmouth's Turner earns website honor

Monmouth University head coach Krissy Turner was been named the women's college coach of the year.

Turner directed the Hawks to the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference regular-season title and the conference tournament crown en route to a 14-5-2 mark.

She also secured Eastern College Athletic Conference and MAAC coach of the year honors.

The Hawks earned their fourth consecutive MAAC regular season championship with a 9-0-1 mark and captured their second MAAC tournament title after beating Marist (4-1) and Quinnipiac (5-2) in the conference playoffs.

"We had a tremendous performance in all phases of the game," Turner said after the Quinnipiac victory. "We left no doubt that we are the best team in the MAAC. I am very proud of every player, coach and support staff member in our program who worked extremely hard to allow us to hold up the trophy today.

The Blue and White made its fourth NCAA Division I tournament appearance, losing to the University of Virginia in the opening round, 4-1.
