Rocks lifts Columbia men in OT, 1-0

PURCHASE, N.Y. Sophomore Kynan Rocks nailed a game-winning goal in the first extratime period to give the Columbia University men 1-0 victory over Temple University at Manhattanville College Tuesday night.

Rocks took back possession on a ball played back to goalkeeper Alex Cagle, dribbled in, then fired a left-footed shot over the keeper's head for the game-winning goal. It was his first goal of the season and second of his career.

The Lions improved to 7-2-1 overall, while the team is tied for the Ivy League league at 1-0-1.

Temple (8-4-1) started the match as the aggressors, firing three shots in the first 10 minutes. Goalkeeper Dylan Castanheira was spot on all night, and picked up two of his season-high five saves during that span.

The Lions will return to Rocco B. Commisso Soccer Stadium for the first time since last season in a Saturday 4 p.m. match against Princeton.
