Baruch men rout York, reach CUNYAC tournament

NEW YORK -- The Baruch College men defeated York College, 8-0, in a City University of New York Athletic Conference game played at Randallís Island Field #10 Wednesday night.

The Bearcats started the match knowing they needed a win over York and a loss by John Jay College of Criminal Justice to Staten Island to grab the last spot (the No. 6 seed) for the CUNYAC Championship Tournament. That is exactly what happened in dramatic fashion.

The Bearcats won, 8-0, while John Jay lost to Staten Island, 1-0, to help the Bearcats leapfrog over John Jay into sixth place for the final playoff spot.

The Bearcats will play on the road at the third-seeded City College of New York Wednesday. CCNY will host and details for fans will be announced soon.

The Bearcats received goals from five players, while playing their entire available roster, including three goalkeepers, in the game.

Shaiem Morad recorded a hat-trick, Colby Aranibar netted twice and Marcello Netto, Jaime Zurro and Juan Galvez each scored once.

The Bearcats outshot the Cardinals, 45-6.
