SHOWING HIS CLASS
Hofstra Holland named to CLASS 1st team
HEMPSTAD, N.Y. – Hofstra University senior Joseph Holland was named a Senior CLASS Award First-Team All-American, the award committee announced Thursday afternoon while announcing the Senior CLASS Award winner.
The award, which is an acronym for "Celebrating Loyalty and Achievement for Staying in School," recognizes a student-athlete that has shown success in four areas of excellence: community, classroom, character and competition.
Jacori Hayes of Wake Forest was chosen as the award's winner, and he will be honored at this weekend's Men's Soccer College Cup.
Initially one of 30 nominees for the award, Holland was then named one of 10 finalists. With Hayes being named the award winner, the remaining finalists were placed on first and second teams, with Holland being one of five named to the first team.
The London, England, native has been leader on and off the field for the Pride. This season he posted three goals and eight assists, earning First-Team All-Colonial Athletic Association and First-Team NSCAA All-Midwest Region honors while recording a 3.58 cumulative grade point average as a philosophy major, including a 3.95 GPA for the 2015-16 school year.
