MY TWO CENTS
Hello, Mr. Curtis, I must be going
In the wake of firing of popular Red Bulls head coach Mike Petke, long-time soccer fan Will Smith of Brooklyn, N.Y. penned a letter to sporting director Ali Curtis. This letter has been used with permission from Smith.

As a fan of this team since it's inception, I was dismayed this morning to hear that our beloved coach Mike Petke was relieved of his duties as head coach of the Red Bulls. Mr. Petke presided over the two most successful years in club history these past two seasons. In addition, he was a beloved player for our team prior to his appointment as coach. His commitment to this team and his love for it were beyond reproach.
While I realize you have the authority to do as you see fit in your role as Mr. Petke's immediate boss, I also realize that you have underestimated both his talent and the fan base's commitment to him. While I certainly wish his replacement no ill will, I also wish to not support this club any longer despite my association with the team since its' inception. We have "started over" too many times. I am getting off of this poorly operated ride before I get violently ill.
Going forward, I will support the only the New York Cosmos of the NASL. It is ironic that a team in the second division behaves in a first class manner while a first division club such as yours always manages to act 2nd rate. RBNY has now managed to embarrass itself more that NYC FC this week and that, after the whole Frank Lampard fiasco, is really saying something.
I wish you the best of luck going forward. You will clearly need it in the absence of good sense.
