Morelia 0, Tijuana 0
Morelia and Tijuana played to a scoreless draw Friday at Estadio Morelos.

Both teams languish near the bottom of the Apertura table with two points and 0-2-2 records. Morelia is the only team yet to have scored a goal in the tournament, after a first-half strike by Duvier Riascos was called back for offside.

Tijuana’s best chance came in the 63rd minute, when Cristian Pellerano sent a penalty kick sailing into the stands behind the goal.

Veracruz 2, Monterrey 1
Veracruz rallied to edge Monterrey 2-1 Friday at Estadio Luis Pirata Fuentes.

The Rayados led for much of the game after Dorlan Pabon scored in the sixth minute. Edgar Andrade began the Tiburones’ comeback with a right-footed blast in the 77th minute, and Daniel Villalva netted the game-winner from a sharp angle with five minutes left on the clock.

It was the first win of the season for Veracruz, who improve to 1-2-1 and five points, and the first loss for Monterrey (2-1-1, 7).

Cruz Azul 1, Puebla 0
Puebla self-destructed on Saturday at Estadio Azul, handing a 1-0 win to Cruz Azul with an own goal by Michael Orozco.

The Puebla midfielder put the ball into his own net at the half-hour mark, two minutes after Cruz Azul’s Marco Fabian has a goal called back for offside. Orozco was sent off with a straight red card in the 58th.

La Maquina improve to 1-2-1 and five points, while Puebla have four points through their first four games (1-1-2).

America 2, Tigres 0
Club America remained perfect through the fourth week of the Apertura with Saturday’s 2-0 win over Tigres at Estadio Universitario.

Oribe Peralta put America (4-0-0, 12 pts) on the board from a difficult angle in the 21st minute, and Miguel Layun caught goalkeeper Nahuel Guzman out of position for an insurance tally in the 62nd.

Emanuel Villa came closest to putting Tigres (1-2-1, 5) on the board in the 60th minute, putting the ball into the net on a rebound, but was ruled offside.

Queretaro 3, Santos Laguna 2
William da Silva scored in the 86th minute to lift Queretaro over Santos Laguna 3-2 Saturday at Estadio TSM Corona.

Djaniny Tavares staked the Guerreros to a 1-0 lead in the 20th minute, but Camillo Sanvezzo equalized from the penalty spot nine minutes later, after being taken down in the area by Carlos Izquierdos. The Gallos Blancos led 2-1 at halftime after Emilio Lopez scored from the top edge of the penalty area in the 40th minute, but fell into a 2-2 deadlock after surrendering a goal to Javier Orozco in the 64th.

Da Silva snatched the win after a pinpoint setup pass from Danilinho.

Queretaro improve to 3-0-1 and nine points, while the Guerreros fall to 1-2-1 (5).

Pachuca 3, Chivas 0
Ariel Nahuelpan scored twice as Pachuca romped over Chivas de Guadalajara Saturday at Estadio Hidalgo.

Nahuelpan connected in the 39th and 66th minutes. The first goal just beat diving ‘keeper Jose Antonio Rodriguez, and the second was a short redirection of Walter Ayovi’s cross. Hirving Lozano closed things out in stoppage time.

The Herd played the final 14 minutes with ten men after a 76th-minute red card to Alberto Garcia, a 64th-minute substitute for Aldo de Nigris.

The Tuzos finish week four at 2-0-2 and six points, while Chivas fall to 1-1-1 (4).

Jaguares 3, Leon 2
Jaguares rallied from two goals down to edge Leon 3-2 Saturday at Estadio Victor Manuel Reyna.

Franco Arizala scored the game-winner in the 74th minute. It was the third goal in 23 minutes for Chiapas (2-1-1, 7 pts), after a 51st-minute strike by Bruno Batista and 2-2 equalizer from Daniel Armenteros in the 59th.

The first half belonged to the Esmeraldas (1-0-3, 3 pts). Carlos Alberto Pena opened the scoring in the 23rd minute, tapping home Elias Hernandez’s service to the far post, and Mauro Boselli made the score 2-0 with a header off a free kick in the 37th. But things fell apart after Edwin Hernandez picked up his second red card of the match and was sent off in the 61st.

Atlas 1, Pumas 0
Alfonso Gonzalez scored the only goal Atlas needed to defeat Pumas 1-0 Sunday at Estadio Universitario Olimpico.

Gonzalez got behind the Pumas defense and beat goalkeeper Alejandro Palacios one-on-one.

The undefeated Zorros are second in the Apertura standings at 3-1-0 (10 pts). Pumas have lost three of their first four games, and have three points.

Leones Negros 0, Toluca 0
Liga MX newcomers Leones Negros battled Toluca to a scoreless draw Sunday at Estadio Jalisco.

The match got off to an energetic start, with Andre Rios sending a 12th-minute shot for UdG intp the outside netting, and Pablo Velasquez hitting the woodwork for the Diablos Rojos. But things bogged down after the intermission, with neither team creating serious chances to break the deadlock.

Leones (0-1-2, 1 pt) are at the bottom of the table, while Toluca enter Week 5 ninth, at 1-2-1 (5).
