LIGA MX APERTURA
Liguilla semifinals - second leg roundup
Tigres 0, Toluca 0 (Tigres advance as higher seed after 0-0 aggregate)
Toluca and Tigres closed out their Liguilla semifinal with their second straight scoreless draw, Sunday at Estadio Universitario.
Tigres advance to the finals as the higher seed.
Neither team generated much in the way of offense. Tigres' Jesus Duenas came closest to breaking the deadlock with a picturebook free kick that Toluca goalkeeper Alfredo Talavera blocked out of the upper right corner.
Tigres, who entered the playoffs seeded second, will face regular-season champions Club America in the home-and-home final.
America 0, Monterrey 0 (America advance, 3-0)
Club America advanced to the Liguilla championship round with Sunday's scoreless draw against Monterrey at Estadio Azteca.
The top-seeded Aguilas win the semifinal set 3-0 on aggregate, and will face second-seeded Tigres for the Apertura championship.
Monterrey opened Sunday's match on the attack, and nearly broke through with a tenth-minute shot by Neri Cardozo that was swept out of the goalmouth by defender Osmar Mares.
In the end, however, neither team connected, sending America through to challenge for their 12th first-division crown.
