A look at the upcoming game
D.C. United (3-5-4, 13 pts) @ Sporting Kansas City (5-7-2, 17 pts), 7 p.m. ET (UniMas)
Both teams come into Friday's featured match on steep downward trends. D.C. hasn't won away from home all year and has scored only three goals in the five games. But that's little compared to KC, which after sitting atop the Western Conference on April 10 after the seventh week of the season has won only one of nine and dropped to seventh place. Sporting's last loss, 3-1 Saturday to RSL, was its third in four games and came with a season high for goals allowed. It also will cost them Roger Espinoza for Friday's match, since the MLS Disciplinary Committee suspended him for an extended leg tackle of Stephen Sunday in the 85th minute. International duty will cost both teams with Matt Besler, Graham Zusi and Soni Mustivar absent from KC and Steve Birmbaum and Alvaro Saborio missing from D.C.
