After his team was eliminated from the Women's Premier Soccer League playoffs after surrendering two goals in stoppage time Friday night, Long Island Fury coach Paul Riley was a bit philosophical. "Unfortunately, you by the sword, you die by it," he said. "You live by youth and you die by it."

Fury eliminated from WPSL playoffs
It was one of the worst ways to exit any sort of playoffs. Only minutes after equalizing, the Long Island Fury gave up the winning goal a minute into stoppage time to the New England Mutiny, which recorded a 4-2 victory in the first round of the Women's Premier Soccer League playoffs Friday night.

Fury hosts Mutiny in NHP Friday
The Philadelphia Liberty's surprising 2-0 loss to the Northampton Laurels in Allentown, Pa. Sunday night rendered Tuesday's Long Island Fury-Philadelphia Liberty match meaningless so the game will not be played. The Fury instead will set their sights on the playoffs with four difficult opponents to defeat en route the Women's Premier Soccer League national championship, as the team did in its inaugural season two years ago.
