Magic shut down Riders women, 2-0

The New York Magic F.A. Euro remained undefeated and moved to the top of the Northeastern Conference standings with a 2-0 victory against the the Long Island Rough Riders in a W-League derby on Saturday.

Sade Ayinde and Lorena Maggio both scored in the second half for the Magic (2-0-1, seven points), who lead the Northeastern Conference. The Rough Riders (three) fell to 1-1-0.

The Magic took the lead in the 63rd minute after being awarded a penalty kick for a handball. Ayinde, a former Rough Rider, converted from the spot as she scored her first goal since returning to the team from Long Island.

Maggio added a second goal in stoppage time to seal the victory.
