A NEW CENTER BACK?
Report: Peruvian international to join NYC FC


Peruvian international center back Alexander Callens reportedly is heading for New York City FC.

According to Peruvian outlet Ovacion, the 24-year-old defender was expected to take a medical examination Thursday and then will sign with the Major League Soccer club.

Callens most recently played with Numancia in Spain from 2015-2017. The Second Division side, however, termindated his contract Jan. 23.

He played 40 games for Numancia, scoring three goals.

"Numancia wishes Callens the best of luck in his personal and professional future," the club said on its website.

Callens started his career with Sport Boys in his native country from 2010-11. He then went on to join Real Sociedad B team, where he sco0red five goals in 86 appearances from 2011-15.

He has made 10 appearances and scored one goal since making his international debut for Peru in 2013.
