Petke, Henry exchange heated words as both men need to be separated at Red Bulls practice

HANOVER, N.J. Ė Tensions boiled over at Red Bulls training on Thursday morning as head coach Mike Petke and team captain Thierry Henry were involved in an on-the-field altercation that resulted in both parties being separated by members of the teamís staff.
Midway through the teamís training session on the middle field of the Red Bulls' three fields at their new training facility, Henry and Petke got close and in each otherís face while the team was involved in an 11 v 11 drill. Members of the coaching staff physically separated the player and head coach.
Henry then stormed off the field angrily with a member of the strength and conditioning staff behind him and headed directed into the team building at the facility. Team sources said that Petke and Henry met afterwards in an attempt to clear the air.
It was not immediately known as to the reason for the flare-up.
Neither Petke nor Henry were available for comment.
The Red Bulls declinced to comment.
Henry is the teamís captain and one of two designated players. He currently is the highest paid player on the Red Bulls roster, earning $4.35 million this year, according to the MLS Players Union.
The Red Bulls are winless in their last three games and face heated rival D.C. United on Saturday night in a pivotal home fixture.
