Former Red Bulls center back Ronald Zubar signed with Red Star FC, the French Ligue 2 team announced Monday afternoon.

"New chapter & challenge," Zubar said on Twitter.

The 31-year-old Zubar battled injuries during his two-year tenure with the Red Bulls. He was sidelined for a good portion of the 2015 season, starting only eight games over 12 appearances and 701 minutes.

Last season, he started 19 games and played in 21 after sustaining an early-season hamstring injury. He scored two goals. Known for his physical play, the Frenchman was awarded six yellow cards during the 2016 regular season.

Zubar has played for Caen, Marseille, Wolverhampton and AC Ajaccio.

"He now brings all his experience to the Red Star! Welcome to him!" the club said on its website.
