Red Bulls sign Cameroon defender Hassan Ndam

The Red Bulls bolstered their backline Tuesday by signing Cameroonian center back Hassan Ndam from Rainbow FC Bamenda in Cameroon.

The team is awaiting receipt of his International Transfer Certificate.

"We are pleased to add Hassan," Red Bulls head coach Jesse Marsch said. "He has great physical attributes and a good sense of the game. He is young, but we think he shows promise."

The 6-4, 195-lb. Ndam has been a regular with Cameroon at youth international levels, being a starter through Under-17 residency cycles.

Ndam, 18, is a member of the Cameroon U-20 national team pool. The U-20s participating in the U-20 African Cup of Nations, which serves as qualification for the 2017 U-20 World Cup in South Korea.

Ndam arrived in Red Bulls training camp late Monday night and will be available to play against Real Salt Lake in a Desert Classic friendly Tuesday at 1 p.m. ET.
