Evans, Orozco return to clubs
U.S. coach Jurgen Klinsmann has released defenders Brad Evans and Michael Orozco after both were in the starting lineup for a 3-2 win over Iceland Sunday.
Evans, who experienced hamstring tightness during the game, will return to the Seattle Sounders FC. Orozco, who replaced Chelsea-bound Matt Miazga on the roster, was scheduled to return to Club Tijuana following the match.
Evans started at right back and Orozco started in central defense as the U.S. opened the 2016 campaign at the StubHub Center in Carson, Calif. Evans was replaced at halftime. Orozco played the full 90 minutes and tallied his fourth career international goal in the 59th minute to tie the game at 2-2.
The annual training camp, which began Jan. 11 and runs through Feb. 6 contains a mix of Senior Team members and players age-eligible for the U-23 MNT. The U.S. has a 24-player roster heading into a 7:15 p.m. PT Friday match against Canada at the StubHub Center. The game will be broadcast live on FS1, UniMas and Univision Deportes Network.
