U.S.-MEXICO OPENER?
CONCACAF sets up Hexagonal schedule


MIAMI -- The schedule of matches for the final round of World Cup qualifying was announced after an official draw at CONCACAF headquarters Friday.

Only Mexico has clinched advancement to the Hexagonal, with 10 other teams in contention for five spots. The draw set up a possible U.S.-Mexico opening day matchup, should the U.S. finish in first place in Group C.

Semifinal qualifying concludes with matches Sept. 2 and 6. The U.S. is in second place, behind Trinidad & Tobago, in Group C.

Also in contention are Canada, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Haiti, Honduras, Jamaica and Panama.

The groups, with teams listed in order of current position after four of the six rounds, are:

Group A: Mexico, Honduras, Canada, El Salvador
Group B: Costa Rica, Panama, Jamaica, Haiti
Group C: Trinidad & Tobago, United States, Guatemala, St. Vincent & the Grenadines
