CHICAGO -- Seven players in, nine players out.

After recording a 2-0 win over Cuba Friday, the U.S. national team made massive changes to its roster for Tuesday's international friendly against New Zealand in Washington, D.C. Tuesday night.

Kellyn Acosta, Juan Agudelo, Matt Besler, Terrence Boyd, Bill Hamid, Michael Orozco and Tim Parker of Hicksville, N.Y. will join the team in the nation's capital for the game at RFK Stadium.

Nine players were returned to their respective clubs -- John Brooks, Geoff Cameron, Timmy Chandler, Ethan Horvath, Fabian Johnson, Christian Pulisic, Jordan Morris, Chris Wondolowski and Bobby Wood.

The USA roster stands at 20 players for the match (ESPN, UniMas, 8 p.m. ET).

"These friendly games are about getting our group ready for Mexico and Costa Rica," USA head coach Jurgen Klinsmann said. "For the guys coming in, it's a chance to prove their point. We sent some of our European-based guys back to make sure they stay in a rhythm for the next few weeks, and with Jordan Morris and Chris Wondolowski they have a chance to extend their seasons. When it comes to roster spots for November, the fight is on."

The USA will start its CONCACAF hexagonal run against Mexico in Columbus, Ohio Nov. 11.

After recovering from several injuries during the past two years, the invitation to Terrence Boyd marked his first national camp since making the 30-man preliminary roster for the World Cup.

Agudelo, a former Red Bulls midfielder-forward who currently performs for the New England Revolution, also returns for the first time since taking part in the 2-1 away victory over world champion Germany June 10, 2015.

"It feels too good to be back with the #usmnt," Agudelo tweeted.
