If Cosmos beat Red Bulls, they will play Open Cup quarterfinals at D.C., Philly

If the Cosmos win Wednesday's Lamar Hunt/U.S. Open Cup game against the Red Bulls and Cosmos, the quarterfinals will not be held in the metropolitan area.

The Cosmos annoounced Tuesday that the game will be play at D.C. United or the Philadelphia Union. The playing dates are July 21-22.

The Cosmos cannot host the match because two possible venues are not available and a third is not big enough.

“Both Hofstra and MCU Park unfortunately have scheduling conflicts," a Cosmos spokesman said. "Our third choice of St. John’s is available, however the size of the facility would be inadequate for the Open Cup quarterfinals.”
