Red Bulls to play Union in Open Cup, a day before taking on Chelsea

HARRISON, N.J. - Talk about fixture congestion.

In a first, the Red Bulls will play two games within two days at Red Bull Arena.

The Red Bulls and U.S. Soccer Wednesday announced that the Lamar Hunt/U.S. Open Cup quarterfinal match against the Philadelphia Union will be held on Tuesday, July 21 at 4 p.m. at Red Bull Arena.

The next night the Red Bulls will face Chelsea FC in the International Champions Cup at RBA on Wednesday, July 22.

The July 21 match will be the first of two events that day at Red Bull Arena, the second being an International Champions Cup match between Paris Saint-Germain and ACF Fiorentina. Kickoff for the U.S. Open Cup match is set for 4 p.m., with PSG and Fiorentina getting underway at 8:30 p.m.

Each match requires a separate ticket and separate entry.

Tickets are available to both the U.S. Open Cup matchup vs. Philadelphia and the ICC match between PSG and ACF Fiorentina. Visit for ticket information beginning at 10 a.m. on Thursday, July 9 for the U.S. Open Cup quarterfinal. PSG and ACF Fiorentina tickets are available now.

Red Bulls season ticket holders will receive their same seat locations for the Open Cup quarterfinal vs. Philadelphia.

The Red Bulls advanced to the quarterfinals with wins over the Atlanta Silverbacks and New York Cosmos, both of the North American Soccer League. Philadelphia defeated USL side Rochester Rhinos before taking down D.C. United in the Round of 16. It will be the second meeting between the MLS rivals in the Open Cup. New York took a 2-1 victory in a preliminary round match in 2010.
