They could meet again in Open Cup June 15

CHICAGO -- For the second year running, the Cosmos could be heading for a Lamar Hunt/Open Cup confrontation with New York City FC, according to the competition's fourth-round draw that was held Thursday morning.

The Cosmos will host the winner of Thursday night's second round match between the Jersey Express and N.Y. Pancyprian Freedoms on June 1. The winner of that encounter will visit the Major League Soccer side in the fourth round on June 15.

The location of the match was not immediately known.

Last year the Cosmos overcame a two-goal deficit to register for a 2-2 draw before prevailing in a shootout in which goalkeeper Jimmy Maurer starred.

Depending on how Lansdowne Bhoys (Cosmopolitan Soccer League), fares against the Rochester Rhinos in its third-round match on June 1, the CSL side could play at the Red Bulls on June 18 or the Rhinos would host the MLS team on the same day.
