Express reaches Open Cup 3rd round

QUEENS, N.Y. Jersey Express has done it again by reaching the third found of the Lamar Hunt/U.S. Open Cup for a second consecutive year after defeating New York Pancyprian Freedoms Thursday night.

Ansger Otto's 80th-minute goal at Belson Stadium proved to be the difference in a 1-0 contest.

The PDL side will play the Cosmos at Belson Stadium on June 1.

Juan Correa was active for the Express in the first half, but he had nothing on the scoresheet to show for his effort. On the other side of the ball, the Freedoms' Keith Detelj connected on a bicycle kick early into the match, but the shot was not on frame.

The game seemed destined for extra time, but Otto's goal capped off an intense affair.
