Don't expect Cosmos forward Yasmani Duk to be available for next week's Lamar Hunt/U.S. Open Cup game against the New England Revolution next week.
The Bolivian international was scheduled to undergo surgery for a nose injury he suffered in a 3-0 Group D loss to Argentina in Copa America Centenario June 14.
"My thoughts are that he won't be available for next week," Cosmos head coach Giovanni Savarese told BigAppleSoccer.com Thursday. "He won't be at the first match. Possibly for the next one he will be."
The Cosmos host the New England Revolution at Belson Stadium in Queens, N.Y. Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.
Savarese said he will know better after the operation.
"We'll know a little bit more but I don't think it will be too long," he said. "Then we hope he recovers as soon as possible."
Duk endured a difficult game against Argentina. On the Argentine's first goal, Erik Lamela's free kick deflected off the Bolivian's back -- he was in the defensive wall -- and into the net in the 13th minute.
He later was forced off the field in a bizarre clash of heads with teammate Luis Gutierrez, who blocked Facundo Roncaglia.
Duk, on loan from Sport Boys Warnes (Bolivia), scored his first and only goal of the North American Soccer League season in the 2-1 win over the Tampa Bay Rowdies May 22.
