Pancyprian blanks Greek Americans in Open Cup, 4-0
In a confrontation of fierce rivals, the Pancyprian Freedoms recorded a 4-0 win over the New York Greek Americans in the U.S. Adult Soccer Association's Open Cup at the Metropolitan Oval in Maspeth, Queens Thursday night.
Both teams perform in the Cosmopolitan Soccer League.
Pancyprian will take on Lansdowne Bhoys in the Eastern New York final.
"Guess who('s) in another final. See you soon," Lansdowne Bhoys tweeted on its official twitter account.
The Pancyprian Freedoms won the Open Cup in 1980, 1982 and 1983 and have earned national championships in other competitions in 2008, 2010 and 2011.
The Greek Americans captured Open Cup crowns four times -- in 1967, 1968, 1969 and 1974.
