MAKING THE SHORT LIST
Lloyd finalist for FIFA women's player of the year, Ellis for women's coach of the year

It should come as no surprise that Carli Lloyd and Jill Ellis are on the FIFA short list in their respective specialties.

After all, Lloyd, a Rutgers graduate, was among the finalists for FIFA Women's World Player of the Year after her sterling performance to boost the United States to its third world championship.

Ellis, who directed the team to the title, is among three finalists for coach of the year.

Lloyd, who performs for the Houston Dash (National Women's Soccer League), Aya Miyama (Japan/Okayama Yunogo Belle) and Célia Šašić (Germany/1. FFC Frankfurt) are in the running for the women’s award

Mark Sampson (Wales/English national team) and Norio Sasaki (Japan/Japanese national team) joined Ellis as contenders for women's coach of the year.

Cristiano Ronaldo (Portugal/Real Madrid), Lionel Messi (Argentina/FC Barcelona) and Neymar (Brazil/FC Barcelona) are the three finalists for the FIFA Ballon d’Or Award for the best player of 2015.

Pep Guardiola (Spain/FC Bayern Munich), Luis Enrique Martínez (Spain/FC Barcelona) Jorge Sampaoli (Argentina/Chilean national team) are vying for men's coach of the year.
