NO CAMP FOR HER
Rampone ruled out of USWNT training camp

CHICAGO Sky Blue FC defender Christie Rampone has been ruled out of the upcoming U.S. women's national team camp prior to the friendly games against Japan.

She will not be replaced and the training camp roster that heads to Denver in advance of the USAs June 2 match at Dicks Sporting Goods Park (9 p.m. ET on FS1) will feature 24 players.

Rampone, who has earned 311 caps second most all-time missed the final five games of the Womens World Cup Victory Tour last fall with a knee injury and then underwent arthroscopic surgery near the end of December. She recovered in time to play in all six games for Sky Blue FC so far this season, but felt she was not physically ready for the rigors of international training and competition.

I really appreciate Jill inviting me in, but at this time, I dont feel 100 percent healthy enough to train and compete at that level, Rampone said in a statement. Ive been able to manage myself and contribute to Sky Blue this season, which I will continue to do, but I also have an understanding of the level of fitness and health needed to push for an Olympic roster spot and I know Im not there right now. Its not the right choice for myself or the team to put myself in that environment.

Following the match in Denver, the USA will travel to Cleveland for the second leg of the two-game set against Japan at FirstEnergy Stadium on June 5 (12:30 p.m. ET on ESPN2). U.S. head coach Jill Ellis will choose 18 players to suit up for each match.
