Kaan Ilgin wants to play professional soccer after he graduates from Mattituck High School. Kaan Ilgin, the offensive hero of Mattituck High School's victory in the New York state Class B championship game Sunday, is considering turning pro. Not in four years after college, but right now, after he graduates from the North Fork Long Island high school.

11 area players on NSCAA youth teams

Eight area boys players and three girls athletes were named to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America youth All-American teams Thursday.

After his senior class had completed its traditional signing of the wall Tuesday afternoon, Mattituck High School boys soccer coach Mat Litchhult made a stunning announcement: He was going to quit after this season.

Given that the Mattituck High School boys soccer team was dominated by seniors the Tuckers' state championship wasn't just four years in the making. It was actually more like a decade.

If there is a first family of soccer in this North Fork hamlet, it has to be the Hayes family. All seven children have played the beautiful game over the past two decades -- in youth soccer and at Mattituck High School.

Teammates hold Paul Hayes with the highest respect

Team captains certainly get their due and respect from their teammates, but Mattituck center back Paul Hayes has been held in the utmost respect by the Tuckers.
